Clough Harris Limited is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment as an integral part of its business strategy and operating methods. We will encourage customers and suppliers to adopt environmentally responsible practices where appropriate.

George Clough and Bernard Harris (Managing Directors) are responsible for ensuring that this Environmental Policy is implemented. All employees have a responsibility within their areas of work to support the aims and objectives of the policy.

We endeavour to:

  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and other applicable requirements, and seek to exceed them where practical.

  • Continually monitor and improve our environmental performance.

  • Reduce our environmental impact wherever practicable.

  • Incorporate environmental considerations into business decisions.

  • Increase employee awareness of environmental responsibilities.

Paper

  • We will minimise the use of paper wherever possible.

  • We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products and will reuse materials where practical.

  • We will promote alternatives to paper, such as email and digital documents.

Energy and Water

  • We will seek to reduce energy consumption wherever possible.

  • Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use.

  • Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind.

  • We will use water responsibly and seek to avoid unnecessary consumption.

New Products and Equipment

  • We will consider the environmental impact of new products and equipment before purchase and, where practical, favour options with a lower environmental impact.

Travel

  • We will reduce unnecessary travel and travel only where there is a clear business need.

  • We will encourage and, where practical, support the use of public transport, cycling and other lower-impact travel options.

Cleaning and Waste

  • Cleaning materials will be selected with environmental considerations in mind wherever practical.

  • We will use appropriately authorised and licensed organisations for the disposal of waste, where required.

  • We will seek to minimise waste and will reuse and recycle materials wherever practical.

Company Statement

  • We will communicate the importance of the environmental issues to our staff.

  • We will update and review this policy at least once annually.

  • We will work with suppliers, contractors and subcontractors to continue to improve environmental performance and, where practical, use locally sourced materials to help reduce transport-related carbon emissions and support the local community.
